Eric Lee Perteet posed as an emergency room physician at Piedmont.
His wife drove him to his "job" at Piedmont, dropped him off there for 2 months.
He had Piedmont scrubs, a Piedmont ID, a cell phone and pager, and "death certificates" of his children - who he said died in a tragic car accident. His tale of woe gave him the opening he needed when he met his future wife at a club.
Apparently it was all lies.
What he was doing at Piedmont during that time is still a mystery.
It also turned out that he was 27, not 30 as he had told his wife, and in February 2008 he was arrested for driving without a license and without insurance.
This is just mind-boggling.

I'm planning to do a pencil portrait a day for 40 days at only $40 per portrait. Each portrait will be 8x10 and of one subject. The price even includes mailing!
This is going to be a fun promotion and I want to post a portrait each of the 40 days on my art blog. It will start September 3, 2008.

Girl stung by scorpion in watermelons @ Wal-Mart
This happened at a Wal-Mart in West Virginia. They think the scorpion hitched a ride with the melons from Mexico. The girl's okay.
About 12 years ago, we had a scorpion in our living room. I wonder if it came in with some produce, but they can also come in when you bring in firewood.
My daughter was about a year and a half old, and was on the floor and started crying, that's when I saw the scorpion. I'm ashamed to say that I froze. I literally could not move. Hubs killed it. I think that if it happened again, I would be able to react appropriately. I was just so frightened for my daughter.
I hate scorpions, spiders, and any stuff that crunches when you kill it. Brrr!

Is the dog really getting out or are you just too lazy...?
I think that most of us in the neighborhood have had it with the people who don't control their dogs. Some people "pretend" that their dog gets out, but their dog seems to get out the same time every day (right about the time of the morning that a dog needs to urinate and defecate).
Isn't that a coincidence?!? So it's not that the owner is too lazy to walk their dog, their dog just 'happens' to get out at the same time every day. Their dog also needs to forage for food in the neighborhood trash bins (once in ours, twice to three times it's happened to the trash cans of the houses to the left and right of us.)
The worst part is that the dog likes to lie down in the middle of the street, or he likes to stand at attention in the middle of the street and do a 'stare down' with drivers. I've heard some people say, "I hope that damn dog gets run over." But I say, that's wishing something bad on the dog, and it's not the dog's fault. It's the humans' responsibility to take care of their animals. I'm concerned about the dog getting hit or eating something that will make him ill out of a trash can.
I used to be the person in the neighborhood who called Animal Control or the police about it, but I think I started seeming like Gladys Kravitz, [pictured] the nosy neighbor on Bewitched. I am also busy. I didn't even call Animal Control after the dog tried to do a face off with me in my own driveway. I played the role of Alpha dog and claimed my zone, and since then he hasn't bothered me or gotten into our trash....but he gets into everyone elses'. If I had run away into the house, he would have thought he'd won the area and he'd be trouble every time I stepped outside.
Seems like my neighbors might want to pick up the phone sometime and complain. I also have to wonder, if animals keep getting into your trash bin, wouldn't you do something to prevent it from happening...like, put the trash can in your garage?
I'm just sayin.'
Well I need to go. There's a wasp in the kitchen window, and my toddler son is crushing Goldfish Crackers with his feet. It's a typical day here.

I tell ya, it's almost enough to make me want to cut in front of those 2,500 survey people in traffic, slam on my brakes suddenly, and shoot them the bird. How rude of them to say we're the least courteous! I might cuss someone out by the end of the day.

I just looked up 'Snellville bloggers' and 'Snellville blogs' in Google, and this blog, MySnellvilleBlog, came up first. It's a small victory, but I'll take it. Susan Gast only writes a blog post for AJC once per week, but she really puts a lot of work into each post - she interviews people and she doesn't do run on sentences and crappy grammar like I do. She also would never type the word 'crappy.' Susan has too much class for that.
Google doesn't look for quality writing though, which is a sad thing for humanity but good for me. I think what helps my Google rank is my posting frequency. Sometimes I'll post up to 3 times a day, if I've had a lot of caffeine.
Rick Badie has a great blog always really touches my heart. I really like his down-to-earth writing style. Mayor Oberholtzer's blog looks great, and it links to my blog, and I appreciate that. I'm sure it would rank far above my blog if he posted to it more frequently, but he's busy working and actually making a living.

Closet Fuel, a 'tween' type consignment store, is for sale. Closet Fuel is located in Loganville, and is in a prime area. As a mother of tween and now teen girls, I have shopped at Closet Fuel several times. It has been a nice alternative to the stores where we could buy the all-important clothes for girls that age...the other stores charge $39 for the jeans my daughters like - but at Closet Fuel we could get similar jeans for only $10 or $12 dollars! It is the type of store that people hear about by word of mouth...I heard about it from a friend who has a daughter about the same age as my girls.

I just became aware that the 2008 Entertainment Book is on Clearance sale for $9.99 each book.
The Atlanta Entertainment Book normally retails for $25 and has over $19,000 worth of coupons...if you could ever use them all, that is. That's an amazing amount of coupons. There are coupons for hotels, dining, movies, and more. There are over 324 coupons for restaurants. You can see what coupons are in this year's book online.
Keep in mind that if you travel to certain cities regularly, it might be worth getting a book to use there, too. If you have family and friends in other cities, an Entertainment Book would make a wonderful gift, especially for families with children. They charge $2.49 per book for shipping, but they are pretty hefty books, if you've ever seen one.
I just ordered mine, and I'm looking forward to getting a lot of use out of it this summer.

Justin Gaines is still missing and why you should care
Still no news about Justin Gaines, the young man who disappeared from a nightclub in Duluth near I-85 back in November. They've done searches on foot, by air, and by water. There's been no activity on his credit cards or cell phone.
His mother says she thinks he took a ride home that night, and it was the wrong ride. I think she is right.
It's just shocking to me that a person can seemingly disappear off the face of the earth like that.
They don't have anything beyond knowing he was in the parking lot of the nightclub, Wild Bill's. But after that - absolutely nothing.
I saw in a comment on a blog or news article that someone posted that he felt "No sympathy for Justin Gaines" because Justin was too young to be going out to a club, he shouldn't have had fake IDs, and that he was a kid up to no good, so he "had it coming to him." Yes, he shouldn't have been there - he shouldn't have had fake identification - I completely agree with that...but the rest is just nonsense...wake up people! There is a possible KILLER running around free.
What's really scary is that if he did meet with foul play, whoever did it is obviously very skilled at their evil acts...and that killer is still out there, probably preying on new victims. Also the killer isn't hard up for money (since the credit card use hasn't been attempted) and/or the killer is smart enough to know that the use of the cards or phone will be traced.

Poor little thing
Yesterday, when I was taking out some trash, I noticed something in my driveway. It was a dead little bird. I looked it up, and I think it was the type of bird pictured here, a Chipping Sparrow.
It was such a lovely bird. I didn't see any signs of a struggle, so perhaps it was old and sick and was blown out of a tree with the strong gusts of wind. I wondered if I should bag the bird and keep in my freezer and notify "the authorities" in case they need to check for West Nile Virus...but it was already confirmed a year or two ago that birds at Briscoe Park tested positively for West Nile Virus, so I decided that reporting it would be unnecessary.

Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
"The National Association of Letter Carriers will be collecting non-perishable food items on Saturday, May 10th to help families in need in our community. You can help by placing your food donation at your mailbox on May 10th before your letter carrier arrives. It will be taken to the Post Office and then delivered to local food banks or pantries. Please do not include items that have expired or those in glass containers."
If you received the postcard about the food drive in the mail, then you may have noticed that Campbell's is one of the sponsors (nice of them) and a lot of their products are featured. Pepperidge Farms' Goldfish crackers are also featured on the card. Nice foods all, but please look over the items that the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry's Co-op actually requests HERE. Except for the jarred spaghetti sauces, which would cause a danger for the postal carriers, I think any of the items on the list would be appreciated. Set your donations in a bag next to your mailbox. What could be easier than that?

Accident Claims Snellville Motorcyclist's Life
Sad news that Michael Barnett, age 29 from Snellville was killed Wednesday morning while driving his motorcycle and another driver apparently made an illegal left turn, according to police.
As the weather has been warmer, I have seen a lot more people riding their motorcycles, and although it looks so fun, just the other day I thought about how unprotected someone is on a motorcycle, since you would have to depend a lot on the awareness of other drivers of your position.......More on the accident here

Snellville Days Tomorrow! Will Aunt Edna behave this year?
The Snellville Days Festival will take place from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm (I assume it's at Briscoe Park again this year)...the festival features over 200 vendors, a children's activity area with games, live entertainment on two stages, dog and disc contests (spit covered Frisbees), the Snellville Historical Society will have a display (NOT of spit covered Frisbees.) ; disability awareness, a car show, and "Much more!!!" <--please don't hold me to the "much more." If you don't see "much more," I'm sorry. I'm just going by the ad copy here. Uh let's see, what else? Oh yes, the Snellville Days Parade will begin at 10:00 am and the parade route will begin at the Wisteria Village office center to Wisteria Drive, to North Road, to Oak Road, and then to Clower Street. By the time the parade participants get all the way around that, they are going to be dizzy. Please do not get in their way.
Do not be late to the parade or as punishment, you will be forced to go into K-Mart and attempt to get customer service.
At 6:30 pm, there will be a free concert with 1970's era dance and costume contests. I find this funny, because I don't think costumes will really be needed. All the clothes now seem to be 70's style to me.
The Atlanta Rhythm Section will be here. Prizes will be awarded (looks like you need to pre-register). Nick Pallas from Grayson will sing the National Anthem. Bringing a blanket or lawn chair is advised.
Door prices will be given and concessions are going to be available. I hope Aunt Edna doesn't get drunk and take her top off again like she did last year. It's bad enough when you see a 98 year old woman waving her lighter around and yelling "Freebird!" Sheesh.
They are really close to kicking her out of the Snellville Keenagers Club, and she better watch her back. Seriously.

Do you think this rebate is going to stimulate the economy? Several months ago, I thought it had some potential, but now I think that the amount of money is too small to really help. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not going to mark it "Return To Sender" but unfortunately for most American families, I think it would take $10,000 to really help them get out from under. I think most people are going to put it toward their credit card debt.
The Search for Justin Gaines
Justin Gaines' mother Erika Wilson has put aside her real estate career and remains focused on finding her son. It has been 6 months now since her son disappeared from a night out with friends at a Duluth nightclub.
She spends her time printing and distributing fliers, updating the website for Justin and whatever it takes. She is pretty sure that Justin got on someone's bad side that night.
I can understand as a mother, what an all-consuming passion it must be. It's impossible to do anything else. She considers the search for her son to be her new job.
