Famous infomercial pitchman Billy Mays has died

There was lot of talk on Twitter and Facebook that famous infomercial pitchman Billy Mays has died. I didn't believe it at first. Billy Mays was best known as the TV pitchman for OxiClean and Orange Glo.

Fox News is reporting the death of Billy Mays at age 50. They say they received the report from Fox News in Tampa, Florida.

Here is more information on the death of Billy Mays from TampaBay.com

TampaBay.com says the cause of death has not been determined. His wife found him unresponsive this morning. They do not suspect foul play.

Fox News has also reported that on Saturday, Billy Mays was on a US Airways flight that had a rough landing when tires blew out. None of the passengers were badly injured, but some did get bruised from the difficult landing. It is not known if the flight could have contributed to the marketing celebrity's death.

Our condolences to Billy May's family.

Snellville school makes Newsweek list

To save you time, if you are wondering which Snellville school made the list, it was Brookwood High School. The article also says that if a community is made up of more frugal families, that can also help the school's ratings. By gaining the college credits while still in high school, it saves families money on college tuition.

Snellville budget cuts a heavy hit on community events

The City of Snellville is short 1.1 million dollars. Time to make some tough decisions.

This article by AJC writer Shane Blatt says Snellville might need to cancel the Easter and Christmas festivities because of costs. That's okay with me, because people can celebrate those elsewhere, but I'd say don't get rid of Snellville Days, because there's only one Snellville Days.

Snellville Days is special to Snellville and has historical and a stronger community meaning. We built that dang-ol huge City Hall building, so now we need to be parading 'round it to make it all worthwhile. Besides, our politicians like to have their names on cars in the parade but not sit in the cars for some odd reason that has not been explained to me. Keep the parade. If the festival at Briscoe Park has to go, okay...but keep the parade.

City Hall should close 1 day per week. The tag office has been doing this for some time. Imagine what it costs to heat/cool that huge building. If you've never been in it, it is so large, sound echoes in it.

But to threaten to cut into the public safety budget...? I feel, quite bluntly, that it's a fear tactic to get everyone to accept the budget as-is.

The City of Snellville ought to be able to call companies it does business with, and ask for a deal. For example, I've done this myself, and just saved $240 a year on pest control. That's just one company I've called so far. Imagine if the City of Snellville asked for a better deal from every company the city contracts with? You better believe the City of Snellville would get a better deal, because the companies would want to keep a nice big contract with Snellville, even if they have to discount a little bit more. It wouldn't be $240 a year, either. It would probably be in six figures. Maybe this has been done, if so, great.

I just say, the small things can add up to a lot. Every small thing should be considered first.

Bad things will happen if you drink outside Snellville

Here's a joke I was sent in email. I "adjusted" it to become a Snellville joke.

Two women friends had gone for a girls' night out.

Both were very faithful and loving wives, however they had gotten over-enthusiastic on the Bacardi breezers from a night outside of Snellville. I think they spent their money in Duluth.

Incredibly drunk and while driving down US78 on their way home, they needed to
urinate and everything was closed at that late hour, so they stopped in the Snellville Cemetery.

One of the ladies had nothing to wipe with so she thought she would take off her panties and use them.

Her friend, however, was wearing a rather expensive pair of panties from Necessities by Sherrie and did not want to ruin them.

She was lucky enough to squat down next to a grave that had a wreath with a ribbon on it, so she
proceeded to wipe with that.

After the gals did their business, they went home.

The next day, the husband of one of the women was concerned that his normally sweet and innocent wife was still in bed with a hangover, so he phoned the other husband and said:

"These girl's night outs have to stop! I'm starting to suspect the worst. My wife came home with no panties!!"

"That's nothing," said the other husband,

"Mine came back with a card stuck to her butt that
said.....

'From all of us at the Fire Station..

We'll never forget you.' "

12 Angry Jurors preview performance

The New London Theatre of Snellville will have a special preview performance of the play 12 Angry Jurors tonight (June 4th) at 8 pm.

The New London Theatre is located in the corner of the shopping center at Hwy 124 and Snellville's Main Street/78 (the same shopping center as Big Lot's, Snellville Diner, and Provino's)

This promises to be wonderful live entertainment for only $8 per ticket.
If you wait until this is performed at the Aurora Theater/Lawrenceville in July, the tickets will be $15 each. So the preview performance will save you some driving time and money.

Synopsis:

“12 Angry Jurors” is a modern version of the classic 12 Angry Men. It is set in a jury deliberation room where the fate of a young man hangs in the balance of what appears to be an open and shut murder case. Yet there is one juror who believes there might be reasonable doubt. Thus what was thought to be a quick vote and all go home, becomes a debate that will determine whether a young man lives or dies. A room filled with various personalities and backgrounds arguing a subject of great import make this a compelling and enduring drama."
