Jell-O For Breakfast

The summer lunch program brought in part from the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry, is making a difference in our community.  Here's just one example, from the food bank director's post on the organization's Facebook page:

"The HEART OF THE MATTER....Well, we have been BLESSED beyond measure as we have rolled out Gwinnett Summer Lunch this year. This morning Carol, myself, and my little Katie went door to door in preparation of starting yet another route. We were joined by the teenage son of two of our favorite clients. We knocked on the doors of Michael's street and explained our mission. Michael was a familiar face and this proved to be a tremendous help to us. I am reminded of why I LOVE reaching out to others. We took a cooler full of lunches along so that people would see what we were doing. (oh the cooler had wheels...praise God). Michael's mom had already helped to spread the word throughout the neighborhood. As we knocked on Stephanie's door, Michael was greeted with a big hug. She knew that we were coming. Her family has faced extreme difficulty this year and the summer has just made it worse. We were able to give her family lunch for the day! She was overjoyed. They had only had Jello for breakfast. Oh Praise God!! Praise Him, Praise Him. What a great morning. We met many great kids who have dreams for the future. We looked into the eyes of the CHILDREN and yep...there it was......Jesus Himself was looking back..."

The food bank is working to provide lunches for families during the summer months. Many families depend on the free and reduced lunch programs throughout the school year, so during the summer it's especially hard to keep all the children fed.
