If you come to City Hall in Snellville on Thursday, you will stand amid a sea of military boots — 119 pairs, each representing a Georgia service member who has died in Iraq.
Most of the boots were collected from thrift stores and military surplus stores. A few were donated by the families of soldiers, although none of the ones in Georgia are the actual boots of the dead, Zerkel said.
