Accident Claims Snellville Motorcyclist's Life
As the weather has been warmer, I have seen a lot more people riding their motorcycles, and although it looks so fun, just the other day I thought about how unprotected someone is on a motorcycle, since you would have to depend a lot on the awareness of other drivers of your position.......More on the accident here

Darla,
ReplyDeleteI grew up riding a motorcycle back home in Iowa...where I considered it much safe. I had an unfortunate accident 20 years ago and haven't ridden since. You couldn't PAY me enough to ride a motorcycle in Metro Atlanta!
Bless his soul. Thanks for posting this blog. I drove past the accident scene that morning. I saw the lady sitting in her car, her mouth was covered. She was aghast.
ReplyDeleteInitially I didn't know the severity of the accident because the ambulance was blocking the street. As I sat in my car I saw two young girls walking from behind the ambulance, with their mouths covered, looking back. When it was my time to turn, I looked left, out of habit and saw Michael lying there.
I immediately began crying and praying for him. I was so saddened and began to feel for his loved ones. Life is so fleeting and every moment is to be cherished.
On a side note, I must say that I've always been adamant about older drivers being retested often. I've been nearly run off of the road countless times because of elderly drivers. Mind you, I have nothing against the elderly, but I feel like they need to be retested because their bodies have changed and their reflexes have changed. Safety first.
Now this elderly lady has to live out the rest of her life knowing she took the life of someone young enough to be her grandchild.
My blessings to Michael and his family and even to the old lady, Bessie. I hope she finds peace.
I knew Michael "Donnell" personally. He was a really good friend of mine, like a brother to me. He came over to my house to show me that sleek black motorcycle right after he got it. I told him to be careful on that thing. This is such a tragedy. He leaves behind two boys, one who will never know how great a man his father was. He cut my grass when I needed him to, we went bike riding at Stn. Mtn. park. It does not even seem real. So many good times. My heart is heavy and aches because I didn't even find out about this until weeks later when I called him with no answer, even going by his house. It just seemed so odd that I had not spoke with him. Another life loss senselessly. I also pray for the woman involved. The best thing is that we talked many times about life and he had a personal relationship with God. May God continue to bless his family and those affected by this loss. For those of you whose life was blessed from knowing him personally, may God keep you strong.
ReplyDeleteI knew him personally as well. Unfortunately, I am just finding out about this tragedy. I hadn't heard from him in a while and I just happen to look him up. The world has lost another great man. I pray his two sons are doing well.
ReplyDeleteDonnell was a "great man" and I know him to have a relationship with Jesus and I feel that he made his peace with the maker and is okay. I do "Miss Him, so terribly"...we shared a friendship like no other. I know that he was my personal angel and I only knew him for a short time, but that time meant the world.
ReplyDeleteTo his two sons and their mothers, I pray God's strength to each of you. I trust that they will grow to know who their father was and how much he truly loved them and that his memory shall never die. He lives on in the lives of those who knew him best.
