Yesterday, when I was taking out some trash, I noticed something in my driveway. It was a dead little bird. I looked it up, and I think it was the type of bird pictured here, a Chipping Sparrow.
It was such a lovely bird. I didn't see any signs of a struggle, so perhaps it was old and sick and was blown out of a tree with the strong gusts of wind. I wondered if I should bag the bird and keep in my freezer and notify "the authorities" in case they need to check for West Nile Virus...but it was already confirmed a year or two ago that birds at Briscoe Park tested positively for West Nile Virus, so I decided that reporting it would be unnecessary.
