Don't Be Dogged By Neighborhood Dogs

I've blogged before about neighbors who just let their dog(s) run wild, rather than walk them on a leash. Most of the time, it's just a mild irritation, but this morning was over the top. I was taking my toddler son outside to the car to drive him to preschool. Here comes the big brown dog, running all the way down the street just to bark at us and intimidate us in our own driveway! This is just too much -- letting your dog run free endangers the dog in the first place, and when there are kids in the neighborhood, it's just gone too far.

I knew that the jurisdiction changed over...rather than call Animal Control directly, we are supposed to call the Snellville Police Department. But I wasn't going to call 911 about a dog. (I visualize someone dying of a heart attack while I call and complain about a dog).

So I visited the Snellville Police Department on Springdale Drive in person today. The very nice lady in the office gave me a number to call next time I see the dog out. So you will have it too, here it is: 770-985-3555. She said to call immediately when it happens, and the police will come out. Once it's on record a couple times, the delinquent doggie parents will get ticketed.
