By Richard Hunter, Senior Pastor of Snellville United Methodist Church
As you are well aware, unemployment in our area continues at about 10% of the population, and many of our people have been downsized or seen their income diminish. Our church has been proactive to support our members and community during this time. In 2009, over 2,600 people were involved in our Crossroads Career Ministry. This ministry provides networking events, support groups, workshops, job fairs, and trains other churches in offering these services. Crossroads is a Christ-centered vocational ministry that is so vital in this community. Our thanks to their highly committed leadership!
Second, our people have generously supported the Family to Family Fund which we use to assist members with utilities, medical needs, housing, and transportation. We also diligently support the Southeast Gwinnett Co-Op so that the poor and unemployed are fed and assisted in many ways during these difficult times.
If you have lost your job or are struggling in any way, the pastors will be glad to pray with you and offer encouragement. Please contact us. We can also place you with a Stephen Minister for ongoing prayer and support.
We are all in this together. It has warmed my heart to see the many ways our people are reaching out to assist others in these trying times. Know that your church loves you and is here to support you. See you in worship this Sunday - come and let's experience God's real hope together!!

I received this information because I am on the newsletter list of Snellville United Methodist Church. This went out to mainly members of the church. What isn't mentioned in this, because most members would know it - is that you do not have to be a member of this particular church to attend a Crossroads Career Network meeting. You don't even have to be a Methodist, or even a Christian. Nobody is going to give you a test of your religious knowledge. You are invited to share, receive, and hopefully be helped by this service ministry.
