We raised $4,700," Hazelrig said, adding anyone who would still like to contribute can do so by going to the Heroes-Helping-Heroes website. In addition, the Snellville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, who helped work the Ride for Ray, had raised more than $5,000 last week with Tips for Cops at O-Charley's Restaurant in Snellville.
There were six officers waiting tables," said Mary Fergus, president of the association. "One of the K-9 officers and his dog were outside getting acquainted with the people as they waited for their tables. The alumni association had a bake sale also at O-Charley's that evening to benefit the Gunter family and the bake sale netted $4,763. With the tips netting another $591, a total of $5,354 was raised."
