Snellville mulls a new relaxed special event liquor law

The Snellville City Council discussed a special events liquor ordinance during a work session last night.
Though the measure is still preliminary, Councilman Tom Witts noted that the relaxed law could be similar to those recently adopted in Duluth and Grayson.

...in July, Snellville opened the tap on Sunday alcohol sales as a way to boost the bottom line for struggling restaurants and lure high-end retailers to town. Since then, restaurants have reported an uptick in food and alcohol sales.

"[This ordinance] would allow Snellville to once again compete on an even playing field with our neighbors," Councilman Tod Warner said.

Witts said city leaders could take action on the new ordinance in as early as two months.
