Snellville supports injured officer

Marcy Pharris has written My Snellville Blog in order to let us all know the results of the fund raising event "Tip-A-Cop." Some Snellville Police officers served food to O'Charley's Restaurant patrons, in exchange for tips and a percentage of the evening's revenue.

The money raised will go to help Snellville Police Sergeant Ray Gunter and his wife Rene after a severe motorcycle accident resulted in Sgt Gunter's leg being amputated. Rene had two broken legs.

"Last night was an awesome turn out for Ray and Renee. O'Charley's did as much business as a Saturday night and the officers and wait staff really had to hustle. All of the officers waiting on tables did a fantastic job. Our thanks to all who contributed with bakery items, selling the baked goods, waiting on tables, and, of course, those contributing tips for our fund raiser. Special thanks to Kathy Gestar for coordinating the bake sale and raffle. I would also like to thank Kelly McAloon for having the shirts for the Alumni completed in time for Tip A Cop. Thanks also to Michelle Prior for convincing corporate to remove the cap on the 10% revenue. Ray and Renee send their thanks to everyone who worked hard and contributed to Tip A Cop.

Here is the good news. We raised $4,763.00 from tips and the bake sale. O'Charley's will be sending us a check for $591.00 which is 10% of their revenue between 5:00pm and 9:00pm. The grand total for Tip A Cop is $5,354.00! I think this is beyond everyone's expectations.

Please pass on our thanks to everyone who helped us with this very successful and very rewarding Tip A Cop."
On Sunday, there will be a Snellville Police-escorted ride fundraiser. [info]
