A home schooled teenager from Snellville is the first in the state of Georgia to receive the Stars and Stripes Award from the American Heritage Girls organization. The award is considered equivalent to earning the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout rank.
Morgan Morris accepted the Stars and Stripes Award during a ceremony at Cannon United Methodist Church in Snellville. To earn her award, Morgan needed to complete a list of requirements, including a 100-hour service project and earn a minimum of 16 merit badges.
Morgan is only the 27th person in the nation to receive this recognition.
