"Birthday in a bag" provided to local families in need

The Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry (our local food bank) provides Birthday Bags for children of the families that are served.  These are distributed when the interviewer notes an upcoming birthday for a child in that particular month.

"We are blessed to have Ms. Pearl who lovingly puts together these bags so that no child goes without a simple gift and a birthday cake on their special day!" Said Laura Drake, director of the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry.

Donation ideas for birthday bags:
  • Small toys and items for children and teens
  • Children's Bibles, devotionals and story books.
  • Birthday cake mix*
  • Cake frosting*
  • Candles
*(Make sure to designate the food items as for the "Birthday Bags," otherwise food donations go into the general food assortments). If you decide to make a monetary donation and want it to go to the Birthday Bags, also designate that on your check or send a note with your donation.

If you would like more information on Birthday Bags, please contact Pearl Knight directly at retiredknight@bellsouth.net. The Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry's website is segwinettcoop.org.
