CITY OF SNELLVILLE PURCHASES 10.7 ACRE
WISTERIA SQUARE PROPERTY
Purchase Will Support The Vision and “Invention”
of a Snellville Town Center

(THIS IS A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE CITY)

Snellville, Ga. – The City of Snellville continues its path to offer citizens a vibrant town center by acquiring 10.7 acres, known as “Wisteria Square”, and identified in a market opportunity study last fall. “The best way to predict the future is to invent it,” said the father of modern management, Peter Drucker. With quantitative research and thorough analysis behind us, that is exactly what the Snellville City Council continues to do.

The City Council purchased 10.7 acres on Wisteria Drive at its intersection with Clower Street, across from the new police headquarters. Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer commented that, “the City Council continues to be proactive; it continues to seek opportunities that lead the city toward greater civic pride and employment.”

Purchase of the property creates the potential for the City to lead the redevelopment process. Kelly Kautz, a member of City Council, said, “The citizens are concerned about the economy. This purchase supports efforts by council through the visioning and master planning initiative to advance our vibrant community.”

City Council member Tod Warner said, “The City worked through a sustained purchase process that ultimately allowed Snellville to purchase the property at a bottom dollar price.” The City paid $697,450 for the property. The ongoing Town Center Visioning and Master Planning initiative includes this property in its defined planning area.

Talk Back:

I would love to hear what you think about this. Are you excited? Concerned? I think it's a good thing, and it's amazing that the great price on the property has timed out so well with Snellville's needs. That it's right across from the  new Police Department building makes it even sweeter (to me). But I can understand if you are worried or concerned about it, especially if you live near the property. Let me know what you think.
