Here is a great article about a man who turned his business around during the recession with an invention. David Atkinson and his staff work with planks of wood and simulate the look of bricks at great cost savings. The pieces, called Atkinson Brick, are manufactured in Snellville and are being marketed at several metro-Atlanta Home Depot stores.

Photo of current and proposed pawn shop
Here is a picture of the current Hilltop Pawn Shop, that has been in business since 1994 in Snellville.
Below, a picture of the proposed new pawn building (will be same business owner)
As you can see, it's quite a nice upgrade.
Here is an aerial view of the property, with the black lines as the estimated property lines Thanks to Brenda Lee (one of My Snellville Blog's readers on Facebook) for these photos! The business on the left is the Quik-Trip convenience store. The intersection is Rockdale Circle and US-78.

Vote on Snellville pawn shop has been postponed
Snellville delays vote on pawn shop
Atlanta Journal Constitution
By Shane Blatt The Snellville City Council on Monday night postponed a vote on a proposed pawn shop to give the business owner more time to allay concerns ...
Hill Top Pawn Shop owner Paul Slifko has been operating his business out of shopping center on Rawlins Street since 1994. He wants to relocate and build a 5,500-square-foot facility on 2.5 acres near U.S. 78 and Grayson Parkway.
Proposed Snellville pawn shop faces opposition
Pawn shop stirs opposition in SnellvillePeople aren't happy that this establishment will sell guns. But you know, Wal-Mart sells guns too. I'm not a fan of the small, poorly run pawn shops - and I certainly don't want one on every corner in Snellville, but this is larger, and if it's a nice establishment, and Council Member Tod Warner is in support of it, it could be a good addition and a draw to Snellville. It could be very good for Snellville's economy. I beg of you to keep an open mind and learn the facts before you attend the City Council meeting tonight, and be polite.
Atlanta Journal Constitution

The most vocal opposition comes from residents in the Summit Chase subdivision, which sits about 4,100 feet from the proposed site near U.S. 78 and Grayson Parkway.
