Schedule for Snellville Tree Lighting event

Here is the schedule for the Snellville Christmas Tree Lighting event and arrival of Santa Claus! All the fun takes place on the green space adjacent to Snellville City Hall (US-78/Main Street and Oak Road) on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Children's Crafts: 2-4 p.m.
Santa Train Ride: 2-6 p.m.
Food Vendors: 2-8 p.m.
Photos with Santa: 2-6 p.m. and 7-8 p.m.
Carriage Rides 4-6 p.m.
Music: 4-7 p.m.

Santa's big arrival with fanfare (he'll be escorted by local school marching bands) will be at 7 p.m. Santa will assist Snellville Mayor, Jerry Oberholtzer, in the lighting of the grand tree.

Please bring canned food for donation to our local food bank, the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry.

Ultimate dessert contest among events planned at Snellville First Baptist

Snellville First Baptist Church will have an evening of holiday fun on December 12.

The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. in the dining room with a performance by the Preschool Choirs. Following the performances, enjoy a showing of  A Charlie Brown Christmas.

You're invited to bring bring your most creative Christmas desserts for the "Ultimate" dessert contest.  Desserts will be judged on visual creativity and flavor, and then will be available for all to enjoy.

Harp Concert Dec 4

The price of admission to the concert is one new unwrapped toy for Toys-for-Tots.

December Snellville Commerce Club Meeting

WHAT: December Commerce Club Meeting

It's time for the annual holiday lunch at Summit Chase Country Club. This is one of the best-attended Snellville Commerce Club meetings.  As in years past, the club requests that members bring one or more toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

This is one of our best attended meetings of the year.  Join your fellow Commerce Club members, the Marines and special guests in celebrating the holiday season.

If you are a regular member, there is no need to RSVP.  Non-members should RSVP and prepay $20 by clicking here.

Christmas tree lighting new date and time

A quick reminder that the Snellville Christmas Tree Lighting event and the arrival of Santa Claus to Snellville will be on a new date and time than in the past.

Traditionally, this event was held in the evening on the first Monday in December, but this year the event will be December 4 and begin at 2 p.m. so that more children can participate in activities in the daytime.

It's promises to be a lot of fun, so make sure you make note of this new date. For more details about the event, see this earlier post.

Holiday light and music display at Gwinnett Fairgrounds

You may have seen the article in the Gwinnett Daily Post recently about the LED Christmas light show going on at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds.

Check out this video to get an idea of what to expect. You tune in with your radio and then drive into the attraction and enjoy.



Where is the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds?
The Gwinnett County Fairgrounds is located in Lawrenceville at 2405 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville Ga 30045. From Snellville, take Scenic Highway (also known as GA-124) toward Lawrenceville. Turn right on Sugarloaf Parkway, and the fairgrounds will be on your left.

How much does it cost to see  the light show?
The light show is $25 for passenger cars. The cost is higher for limos and multi-person vehicles.

What are the hours?
The light show will run through January 2, 2011 and is open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Live Nativity at Cannon Church Dec 24

Live Nativity - December 24, Cannon United Methodist Church, Noon to 6 p.m.  Visit the manger scene and pet sheep, a donkey, a cow and other live animals. Refreshments provided. Free.

1 p.m. - Church service for families with children. Visitors are welcome. Childcare provided for children age 3 and younger. Traditional worship at 4, 6, 8, and 11 p.m.

1:45 p.m. - Birthday Party for Jesus, Fellowship hall. Bring gifts of port-a-crib sheets, onesies, sleepers, disposable diapers, 4-8 oz baby bottles. These baby items will e donated to the Gwinnett Crisis Pregnancy Center.

Free Santa Photos and Carriage Rides

Thursdays, December 2nd - 23rd
3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
The Avenue Webb Gin, 1350 Scenic Highway, Snellville, GA 30078

Enjoy complimentary horse drawn carriage rides and photos with Santa.  Santa Photos will take place at the trellis next to Jos. A. Bank.

UPDATE: A helpful reader has shared with me that The Avenue distributes the photos of the children with Santa via the shopping center's Facebook page. You can use your own camera to take pictures if you do not want your child's photo shared online.

Carriage rides will take place in front of Learning Express Toys. In the case of inclement weather Santa photos will take place inside the Barnes & Noble bookstore.

Snellville Tree Lighting Event Dec 4

Snellville, Ga - Building on the success of the Snellville Farmer’s Market and Snellville Fall Festival, the Snellville Tourism and Trade Association (STAT) has announced plans for the 29th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the Snellville City Hall.

When: Saturday, December 4th from 2 p.m.-7 p.m.

Santa will be set up in his “headquarters” on the Snellville City Hall Green where there will also be a Santa Train Ride for the kids and a beautiful horse and carriage ride for mom and dad. [Romance points...lol]
