Snellville Tree Lighting Event Dec 4

Snellville, Ga - Building on the success of the Snellville Farmer’s Market and Snellville Fall Festival, the Snellville Tourism and Trade Association (STAT) has announced plans for the 29th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the Snellville City Hall.

When: Saturday, December 4th from 2 p.m.-7 p.m.

Santa will be set up in his “headquarters” on the Snellville City Hall Green where there will also be a Santa Train Ride for the kids and a beautiful horse and carriage ride for mom and dad. [Romance points...lol]

Mr. Claus
Pictures with Santa
Photos with Santa will take place between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. with Snellville's own photographer, Andrew Watson.


Christmas & Holiday Music
The 60-foot-tall Christmas tree area near City Hall will host a full schedule of choral and instrumental performances, courtesy of local churches and schools, including: Snellville United Methodist Church, Snellville First Baptist Church, Britt Elementary School and Centerville Elementary School.

Le Food
Funnel cakes, hamburgers and hot dogs, along with hot drinks and other special Christmas treats will be located near the Santa Headquarters provided by the Snellville Lion’s Club.


Performances
New London Theatre, Right Side Up from St. Oliver’s Catholic Church and a variety of individual performers will make this a special night.

Children's Activities
Children will be able to decorate giant ornaments to be placed on the Tree (sponsored by Michael’s Arts and Crafts) and decorate cookies, sponsored by Sassy Girl Pies.

Marching Bands to Escort Santa to the Tree
Prior to the official “lighting”, the horse and carriage carrying Santa will be escorted to the Tree by a combined band comprised of students from Brookwood, South and Shiloh High Schools directed by Rudy Wilson, Band Director of Brookwood High School Band.

Santa, along with Snellville's Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer will throw the switch bringing to life the thousands of beautiful lights on the giant Tree at 7 p.m., accompanied by the sounds of the assembled crowd holding lighted candles and singing “Oh, Christmas Tree”.

Following the Tree Lighting, Santa will still be available for photos at his Headquarters.

Caroling Hay Rides
Brushy Fork Nursery will be providing “Caroling Hay Rides” for the attendees to enjoy with a nice hot cup of chocolate.
