Kindergarten registration Gwinnett County GA

Kindergarten Registration for Gwinnett County Schools is May 7, 2009.

To register for the 2009-10 school year, your child will need to be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2009. Call your school for registration times. For a list of phone numbers, visit GCPS' website, www.gwinnett.k12.ga.us and look for "Countdown to Kindergarten."

Registration will occur at local schools. If you're not sure what school your child will attend, call the Planning Department at 678-301-7085. The first day of school will be August 10, 2009.
Go to your local school during registration hours.

Registration will be delayed if you fail to bring needed information and are unable to fill out the paperwork:
  • You can bring your child (I didn't take my son last year, and that's okay - but sometimes they do some hearing/sight screenings, so it's a good idea. I'd just say, for the best experience, make sure your child is well rested and has eaten before you attend)
  • Bring a copy of the Pre-K progress report, if your child attended PreK. It will help your child's new teacher know more about your child's needs.
  • Bring an official document that proves your child's birthdate for eligibility. Examples: original birth certificate or birth registration, an official state or federal form with date of birth on it, or a passport.
  • Proof that you live in the area covered by that school. Examples: A non-contingent sales contract, lease, or deed. You'll need at least one utility bill (but not a phone bill) that has the same address as that on your contract, lease, or deed.
  • You'll need proof that the child had vision, hearing, and dental exams in the past year. You'll need Georgia Form #3300. The form will be provided by your physician or the health department. If you're coming from out of state, a letter from your healthcare professionals are usually acceptable.
  • Photo ID of the adult enrolling the student. This can be a driver's license, a state ID card, a passport, or other official photo identification.
  • Proof of custody/guardianship. To learn more about proof of custody, contact Gwinnett County Probate Court at 770-822-8265.
  • Georgia Certificate of Immunization. State form # 3231
  • The child's Social Security number. If you don't want to provide this number, parents may sign a waiver.
