City of Snellville is going to be double checking to make sure everybody who should have a business license has one.
If you are in Snellville and you have a home business, you should have a Home Occupation License. If you create something in your home and sell it, you should have one. Even if you have an AVON business, you need one.
It's not as expensive as you might think. My license is about $45 each year. The fee is based on gross receipts. (You can tell I'm not getting rich!) So if you don't have one, get one. In most cities, the penalty for not having one (when you should have one) is greater than just paying the tax and being legal.
I've always considered a side-bonus of having a tax license is that it helps to think of what I do as a business, not just a hobby. So it makes me more serious about my work.
If you're in doubt about whether or not you should have one, go to Snellville City Hall. They'll be happy to answer your questions. You can also visit the City of Snellville's new website at www.Snellville.org . Click on Departments, then choose Planning and Development. You'll find lots of information and printable forms there.
