Vote November 3rd

These are the candidates up for election in the general election on November 3, 2009. I have linked the names to their election websites, if available.

I do not have a website for Robert Jenkins. If he does have a website, I would appreciate the information so I can add it.

Snellville City Council Post 3
Robert Jenkins (Incumbent) [website link added here on October 13, 2009]
Tom Witts

Snellville City Council Post 4
Niria Dominguez Baggett
Barbara Bender (Incumbent)

Snellville City Council Post 5
Jackie O. Ginn
Mike Sabbagh

Of note, some candidates have complained that their campaign signs have been taken out of yards. It's not only unethical to do this, but since the signs are on private property (put there by permission of the homeowner or by the homeowners, someone who does this is committing criminal trespass, and can be arrested for that. (Duh!) It would be considered a misdemeanor in Georgia, punishable with up to $1,000 in fines and up to 12 months in jail. Usually, it would mean a 6 month sentence. Consult your legal counselor though!

Great blog which I only recently discovered. Thank you.

By no means is this city election a single issue campaign, but I, for one, would like to know the various candidate's position on the sale of liquor by the glass in the city.

What ever happened to the Westeria Square development?

  3. Hi there! The best way to find out is to email each one and ask (if it's not on their websites).

I don't delve very deep into politics here. You will be able to find past posts about Snellville's liquor laws by doing a search in this blog (the search field is at the top right).

  4. Here's the info about Wisteria Square (if you need to search for it, note that it's spelled Wisteria with an 'i,' not an 'e.'

I do think that once the new public safety complex is built across the street, that the Wisteria Square development will positively evolve, and very quickly.

The reason we have the "bridge to nowhere" in that large lot, and a parking lot set up for nothing, is that the developer hasn't been able to get investors.

If you want to jump in on the conversation about that, click here.

Glad to have you as a new reader! Please feel free to comment on anything. I love finding out people actually read this :)
