Best Fit Pet Sit, a pet sitting service in Gwinnett, marks its 2-year anniversary this month.

Owner Valerie Pegg says her business was built from a lifelong dream, hard work and experience.

“Denny (her husband) and I started the business in January 2009 from the ground," Pegg said.
"The idea of starting my own pet sitting service came to me through years of experience working for doggy day cares, boarding kennels, and as an independent professional pet sitter, combined with 10 years of fostering dogs and a lifetime of loving and caring for animals.”

Valerie Pegg also volunteers for Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen and the Georgia Humane Society. To say her world is animals would be an understatement.

The pet sitting business has done so well in two years that she has been able to add 5 independent pet sitters on a part-time basis in addition to her full-time clients and her husband’s part-time assistance. Best Fit Pet Sit has a client base of 75 "pet parents" and over 150 furry, feathered and scaly family members. Pegg would like to expand her business into neighboring cities.

Tell us about your business: I started selling Scentsy in 2008 and have loved every minute of it. What is so unusual about Scentsy is that they are ceramic warmers that use a low-voltage light bulb to warm a fragrant wax instead of a fire, which will reduce the number of house fires that are started by candles. With the holidays coming up people entertain more and use more candles. With my warmers it is no different than turning on a lamp and leaving it on.

Why did you locate your business in Snellville?
I love Snellville every since I moved out here in 1996. I like being a local business and close by when my customers need a new scent or last minute gift.

What is your best-selling item or service? Scentsy has over 30 different styles of warmers and offers over 80 scents! One of my best selling scents this time of year is called Snowberry, which is a blend of Loganberry,strawberry, peppermint, and zesty cinnamon.

I do home parties and basket parties and keep plenty of items in stock at all times.
