Dr. Richard Hunter, Senior Paster of Snellville United Methodist Church, has announced today to the congregation that Rev. Owen Skinner (pictured) has been promoted by Bishop Michael Watson to serve as Senior Pastor of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Dalton, Georgia.Skinner, who has been with Snellville United Methodist Church for eight years, will assume his new post in Dalton beginning July 1, 2009.
Rev. Owen Skinner will preach farewell sermons on June 21, 2009 at all services.
The same evening, they will give Rev. Skinner's voice a rest, but they'll be having a "roast" in his honor. But I couldn't wait. I've already roasted him. I just posted to his Facebook page, "Congratulations. You will now have a short drive to buy carpet."
District Superintendent, Dr. Jim Cantrell is appointing a new associate pastor to serve at Snellville United Methodist Church. The church will share her name and biography next month.
