Some students may be relocated due to redistricting

Twenty-nine schools are expected to be part of redistricting changes in Gwinnett. New schools have opened, so many students and staff are expected to be relocated to other schools. The good thing about it is that it should get more kids out of trailers and back into school buildings. It's to relieve overcrowding in Gwinnett County Public Schools. Six new schools are expected to open in 2010. Some 9,000 students may be affected by the redistricting.

Here's how that relates to Britt Elementary in Snellville:

With the opening of the new Snell Elementary School for the 2010-2011 school year, Britt Elementary attendance boundaries will change due to redistricting in the South Gwinnett & Shiloh Clusters. A map of the redistricting is posted in the foyer of Britt Elementary. Input forms and a redistricting timeline are also available. Redistricting changes for Britt Elementary will be discussed at a parent meeting on October 6th at 7:00 pm in the school cafeteria. On October 27th, a public meeting will take place to discuss redistricting for Britt Elementary. The meeting will take place at 7:30 pm in the Britt Elementary cafeteria.
