- It's because people feed the waterfowl.
- These same people completely disregard posted legal notices to not feed the waterfowl.
- Then the birds poop.
- The the people who fed the birds complain the park management about the bird poop.
- Repeat.

You have to admit its a silly notice. Going to local parks to feed the ducks is something families have been doing forever. Small children live for the day they can go feed the ducks.
ReplyDeleteI've never understood the ordinance against it. I just step around the poop and understand its a side effect of having waterfowl at the park. Complaining about it is like going to a horse farm and complaining about horse poop. Just step around it and enjoy the animals. :)
Yep, but they actually complain to the park office about the bird poop, but complain if they aren't allowed to feed the birds. Seriously!
ReplyDeleteBut you know, even at Yellow River Game Ranch, you have to buy the food there to feed the animals, you can't bring your old vegetables and stuff from home, the USDA won't allow it anymore. I can't remember if the USDA is behind the signs at Briscoe or not. I think it's some kind of wildlife management thing.
I have noticed the Canadian Geese moving out of the park into residential areas, sometimes in a huge flock crossing Skyland Dr. So, maybe not feeding the birds at the park is actually endangering them in another way, you know?
I don't like laws/regulations that aren't or can't be enforced - because I'd like the police to be looking for real criminals!
