Old Pike's Nursery location will rise again

From Snellville Monthly Update report.

The Department of Planning and Development has received a rezoning, (zoning modification), application from Jeff Van Blake to be allowed to reopen the former Pikes Nursery as Family Tree Garden. The applicant has proposed providing the required site and right-of-way improvements in phases over the next three years. The application was recommended for approval with conditions by The Department of Planning and Development. The Planning Commission heard the case on October 27, 2009 and recommended approval with Conditions. The Mayor and Council considered and held public hearing on November 9, 2009. The request was voted on and approved by The Mayor and Council on November 23, 2009.
Some of our readers on Twitter and Facebook are very glad Pike's is reopening (I'm glad anytime we can keep a business active!) but some readers said that the reason they stopped going to Pike's was poor customer service. Let's give them a chance to "blossom" though (I know, bad pun for a garden center post...hey, you can get your own blog and be deathly serious if you want to, this one is mine to muck up.)

This new garden center, even though not a Pike Nursery, is owned by members of the Pike Family. Mr. Van Vlake, mentioned above, is married to Dana Pike-Van Vlake who is the daughter of Pete Pike, the founder of Pike Nursery. I would guess that the customer service will be stellar here since the Pike Family will be running this store and will bring all of the good attributes of Pike's that people have come to love!

I have been watching that location wondering what was happening. Thanks for the info. When will they open and how do I get a job there? My 3 year lawn maintenance business went down the tubes with the economy.
