As I advance in age (ie: Grow old, decay, prepare to meet my Maker, dessicate) I've found that I am more set in my ways. I like to read the newspaper every day. I subscribe to the Gwinnett Daily Post, because I like local news.
I like to read the paper around the same time every day, in the same spot if I can - like the old biddy I am. All I'm missing is the knitted doily on the sofa back and arms.
So today I was all snuggled up in my favorite spot to read the paper. I couldn't believe what I saw on the front page. There had been another house fire in Lawrenceville that completely gutted the structure.
"This is getting out of hand," I thought to myself. "There was a bad fire just last week." Then I saw a headline about Relay for Life. "That's rather old news," I thought. Then I looked at the fire report one more time, and realized I had seen that same photo - the fire victim with his head in his hands. Now I know I've seen that before! Then I checked out the date of the paper. Thursday, May 6th. Hmm...this is Thursday, May 13th. No wonder I had a feeling of deja vu...I was reading an old paper. Oh okay, I'm not going crazy then.
I called the Gwinnett Daily Post, and the customer service lady and I had a good laugh about it. "Well one Thursday's as good as another," I joked. She replied, "I don't know WHAT they were thinkin'! But we'll get a new paper out to you right away."
Gwinnett Daily Post has really good service. They brought a new paper out to me within about an hour or so. The delivery man threw it in the usual place on the driveway, but then when he noticed I was outside working in my garage, he pulled into my driveway, got out of his car, picked up the newspaper, and brought it to me.
Now, if they could bring me a newspaper with future events in it, that would be really cool. Just think of what I could do with that information.
