Snellville Police K-9 officers continue to prove value to the community

  • An officer stopped a vehicle for a seatbelt violation.  After noting an odor of marijuana  from the vehicle, the officer deployed K-9 Bart. Bart gave a positive indication. A search of the vehicle, based on probable cause from the K-9 alert produced two containers of marijuana and a smoking device.  The officer charged the person with possession of marijuana and drug related objects.
  • Snellville Police received a call of a theft from the Atlanta Computer Solutions on Scenic Highway.  Several officers responded.  After a chase on foot, the suspect was apprehended by the responding officer.  The officer and K-9 Officer Bart conducted a search for the stolen property, which was a television.  The television was located returned to the business owner.  The suspect was charged with the felony theft.
  • A Snellville Police officer responded to assist another officer on a traffic stop.  The officer brought with him K-9 Chris. A free air sniff of the vehicle was conducted after the driver refused to grant consent to search.  The police dog gave a positive indication for the odor of narcotics.  A search of the vehicle produced marijuana, methamphetamine and other prescription drugs. The driver was charged with multiple felony and misdemeanor drug offenses in addition to the traffic charges.  The vehicle was seized.
