The pedestrian bridge was a project of the Evermore CID, a group of self-taxing property owners who join together to revitalize an area.
Chip Adair, the chairman of the Evermore CID board, said the pedestrian bridge connects the Park Place area with Snellville. “It’s beautification, but it’s also a safety issue,” he said. “If you want to brave the heat, you can walk from Park Place to Snellville.”
Snellville Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer said he sees the bridge as a catalyst for developing a greenway trail along the Yellow River. He said he’d also like to see a bicycle path in that area.
