Snellville Homestead Exemption for Disabled and/or 65 and Older

If your home is in Snellville and you are age 65 or older, or disabled, are you taking advantage of the Homestead Exemption from Snellville Ad Valorem taxes?

It's amazing what I find just surfing. This is from 1999. It's one of those things that aren't going to be just handed to you or offered to you, you will need to know to ask for it.

Here are some excerpts, and then I will provide the link so you can read it yourself if interested in learning more.

HB 412 - Snellville, City of; homestead exemption; certain residents

SECTION 2.


2- 4 (a) Each resident of the City of Snellville who is under 65
2- 5 years of age is granted an exemption on that person's
2- 6 homestead from all City of Snellville ad valorem taxes for
2- 7 city purposes, except taxes levied by the city to pay
2- 8 interest on and to retire bonded indebtedness, in the amount
2- 9 of $3,000.00 of the assessed value of that homestead. The
2-10 value of that property in excess of such exempted amount
2-11 shall remain subject to taxation.

2-12 (b) Each resident of the City of Snellville who is 65 years
2-13 of age or older or who is totally disabled is granted an
2-14 exemption on that person's homestead from all City of
2-15 Snellville ad valorem taxes for city purposes, except taxes
2-16 levied by the city to pay interest on and to retire bonded
2-17 indebtedness, in the amount of $5,000.00 of the total
2-18 assessed value of that homestead.


 SECTION 3.

3- 2 The City of Snellville or the official designated by the
3- 3 governing authority of the city or the designee thereof
3- 4 shall provide application forms for the exemption granted by
3- 5 this Act and shall require such information as may be
3- 6 necessary to determine the initial and continuing
3- 7 eligibility of the owner for the exemption.
